Founded in 1944 by F. Maurice Speed, the Film Review annual was a groundbreaking movie almanac stuffed with photographs, reviews and articles. For over 70 years, the book has long been regarded as the essential reference for UK movie enthusiasts and industry professionals. At its height, Film Review shipped 250,000 copies a year and contributors included such luminaries as Alfred Hitchcock, Bob Hope, Danny Kaye, Rita Hayworth, Michael Powell, Cecil B. DeMille, James Mason and Walt Disney.
Now fully online, with reviews added daily by our usual panel of discerning and frequently movie-loving critics, including Mansel Stimpson and executive editor James Cameron-Wilson.
